"because the people matter" 09. - 18. Mai 2003
What does it mean to be human?
Do the people matter?
What rights do we have?
From global to local: from a global perspective on problems like peace-keeping, economical globalization and the preservation of our environment all the way to the local and very individual level - into every family, to each child that is growing up, when all of the above issues are present:
Once upon a time there was a human being who thought about the terrible destruction of our environment. It was sitting on a bench in one of its hometown’s parks and felt so helpless, facing all these big problems which it was told about by the news from its TV. This human felt pain and tears ran down his cheeks while he was imagining how huge excavators where destroying this very beautiful scenery of the area where he had spent his last holidays at. He got up - tossing away his beverage can into the bushes near by - and walked away...
We believe that every human being has got an impact on his environment which itself also consists of other humans. Parents are raising their children, pupils question their teachers. Everyone is a good or bad role model to fellow humans in a very individual way.
Humans like you can be in charge of things, carrying huge responsibilities, motivating others. Be active and participate in all small and big issues that shape our world - and that shape ISWI 2003.
